"Help! I can't get this shortcut to run!"
The hotkey will not work while EboBar is busy, i.e.
while it is scanning files or being configured by you. Check the icon in the
system tray - if it is crossed out, it means "not now please". You can
hover over the icon to find out what EboBar is currently busy with. Most
commonly, you are configuring it and the configuration window is obscured by
another large window.
EboBar scans for changes in the background and
is busy for a few seconds whenever it detects a modification. If this
feature turns out to be a nuisance, you can switch it off in the configuration
menu.
Did you change it? Look it up in the configuration
menu. The "User Interface" sheet shows you the current shortcut.
In general (this applies to everything in Windows),
it's best to first press the qualifiers, then the key. Qualifiers are keys
like "Alt", "Ctrl", "Shift" or the Windows
key.
Do you have another program installed which uses the
same shortcut? This is very unlikely, but possible.
Maybe EboBar is obscured by another window which is
pesky enough to be on top of all windows all the time. The Windows Task
Manager is a prominent example. You might try minimizing all windows on
screen and then hitting EboBar again.
Is EboBar gone already? Remember that EboBar vanishes
immediately as soon as you click somewhere outside it.
If everything, everything else fails, you might try shutting down EboBar and re-launching it. Possibly even restarting your system. This is very unlikely however, and I haven't heard of a case in which this is necessary.
